At Austin High School, we believe that the time students spend in classrooms engaged in instruction directly correlates to increased academic achievement. Austin High School’s average daily attendance impacts both our district’s educational funding and our accountability ratings. In an effort to promote and recognize outstanding attendance, Austin High School's Attendance Incentive Opportunity is available to all 9th - 12th graders.
To induce students to maintain outstanding attendance, the Attendance Incentive allows students the opportunity to have the semester exam grade count ONLY if it improves the semester average. This means that students who qualify for an Attendance Incentive will qualify to use the final exam grade or the semester average grade (whichever is higher) to calculate their overall semester average. The sum of all absences and tardies for all class periods are used to determine a student’s eligibility for an attendance incentive.
